Though my love for podcasts didn’t transpire in a New York minute. In fact, I spent the better half of 2014 second-hand listening to my boyfriend’s favorite podcast This American Life, never once itching to subscribe myself.

Gradually, slowly, eventually, I started to embrace this new art form called Podcast. Yes, I consider it an art, much like literature, music and performance art, because it is very much a combination of all of the above.

But I digress.

After I decided to take the plunge, I dived in hard. The first podcast that I have ever subscribed to was StartUp, a podcast produced and hosted by Alex Blumberg. Then the smash hit Serial came out and I was hooked immediately. I went on a mission to find other quality, storytelling-focused podcasts. To say the least, it was a long and laborious process, involving hours of downloading and listening to podcasts that didn’t fit my bill. I wondered if there was a more methodological way of discovering new podcasts, based on current preferences.

Thus this site was born.

The premise of the site is simple: I will go out there and discover podcasts the old-fashioned way and share my honest opinions with you. After all, I have too much respect for my readers to shove my suggestions down your throat. My reviews cover the basics of what, when who and where but often go in-depth on how the podcast should be enjoyed. At the end of each review, there is a section called Similar Podcasts that aims to take you further in your quest for finding your next favorite podcast.

I hope to publish at least one review per week, but we will see about that. Also, I will be the first to admit that there is a slight bias to the types of podcasts I choose to review. At the moment, I’m loving podcasts that are intellectual and have an intricate story arc. However, I do occasionally enjoy getting out of my comfort zone and will try my best to cover a range of podcasts, not just those that appeal to me.

That’s all I have to say. Happy podcasting, everyone!
